A Return to Paper Maps and Wayfinding
An ode to all who find joy in the discovery and experience of new buildings and places, The Wandering Series does away with digital aides and harks back to an age of physical wayfinding; utilizing a paper map, building icons, legend, scale and north arrow to guide you on your way.
The Architecture Guides
Guide Features
Designed to fit comfortably in your purse or pocket, the brochure-sized guides consist of 5 unique features that will inspire you on your next journey:
(1) A signature local building on the cover
The cover of each guide features a unique icon that celebrates a local project, illustrated as a wandering path and capturing the joy of architecture and discovery.

(3) Recommended Routes
Our Recommended Routes identify the must-see buildings if you only want to catch the highlights or are only in town for a short time. Each route identifies different or combined paths depending on whether your tastes are contemporary, modern or traditional (or a combination of the three).
(4) A legend containing selected projects
Each icon has been carefully crafted to bring out the essence of each building. Organized by neighbourhood, they are accompanied by the architect(s) name, as well as an address for where you can find it.
(5) A QR code that takes you to an online version of the guide
Karl van Es, Founder of ÅVONTUURA says “I am incredibly pleased to be a part of The Wandering Series development. Growing up in northern Canada, it was a family trip to the Netherlands as a young boy when my eyes were first opened to the wonders of architecture. Walking along canal-lined streets and discovering something new around every corner changed my perspective of the world and what the power of architecture could be – a source of life and happiness for all who experience it.
The Wandering Series will change the way we as architects travel and experience buildings. I will never have to spend endless hours searching online to find the best buildings in a city; it’s all here, and we have so many more guides planned – this is just the beginning”.
