Years ago and on the heels of obtaining a bachelors degree in architecture, I set about on a European adventure with stops planned all across Italy. Milan was naturally one of those stops but apart from traditional landmarks such as the Duomo di Milano and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, there was little beyond its fashionable shops that compelled me to stay for too long.
A lot of time has passed since then and the city has since emerged as THE destination in Italy for contemporary architecture. International firms such as Herzog & de Meuron, Zaha Hadid, OMA, and Daniel Libeskind have all staked their names into the city’s skyline and yet all are overshadowed by Stefano Boeri’s game-changing Bosco Verticale.
If you have 5 minutes to kill, I highly recommend grabbing a cup of coffee and wandering through our MUST-SEE: MILAN guide here.
Happy traveling!
