The Floating Suites of Trakt

The following description is courtesy of the architects. The silence, the nature, the wind. You, floating under a pine canopy. That’s it. Trakt’s five suites are merely shells that put nature in focus and make a stay in the woods possible. By elevating the buildings, the suites get closer to the treetops and leaves the ground untouched. It gives a feeling of being in between. Present.
All openings are placed to maximize the intake of nature. The one over the bed is the key to make you feel the soothing sensation of watching tall pine trees sway in the wind. That, together with an intimate and frugal inside décor in chlorophyll green, strengthens the experience of being invisible in the middle of a deep Swedish forest.
The suites are built out of locally grown wood, with the façade covered in gently cut, but still raw, pine. All construction materials have been carried to the building site and we reduced the need to dig to a minimum. Altogether we tried to make as gentle footprints, both environmental and actual ones, as possible to keep the area as it was the first time we saw it.
